Point Spread Functions Of Aberrated Optical Systems With Annular Apertures

چکیده
Annular apertures are derived for the rotationally symmetric optical systems. Shaping the point spread function in terms of the magnitude of the radius of its first dark ring in comparison to that of Airy case is one of the prime merit functions associated with super-resolved point spread functions. Our studies entail in the estimation of the radius of the first dark ring in the obtained diffraction pattern of the obtained point image. Apertures shading with amplitude filters have been considered. The influence of the filter has been analyzed to estimate the optimum value of apodisation for a given aperture in realizing the least possible radius for the first dark ring which in turn influences the resolving aspects of the optical imaging systems.

متن کاملAberrated Edge imaging with annular apertures
In this paper, we have studied the aberrated images of coherently illuminated straight edge objects with annular aperture in the presence of apodisation. The analytical studies were made for annular apertures apodised with Shaded aperture under the influence of defocus and primary spherical aberrations. The effect of aperture obscuration and apodisation on the edge ringing and peak intensity ha...

The wavelength dependence of the incoherent point spread function in a wide-field microscope was investigated experimentally. Dispersion in the sample and optics can lead to significant changes in the point spread function as wavelength is varied over the range commonly used in fluorescence microscopy. For a given sample, optical conditions can generally be optimized to produce a point spread f...
متن کاملUtilizing Optical Aberrations for Extended-Depth-of-Field Panoramas
Optical aberrations in off-the-shelf photographic lenses are commonly treated as unwanted artifacts that degrade image quality. In this paper we argue that such aberrations can be useful, as they often produce point-spread functions (PSFs) that have greater frequency-preserving abilities in the presence of defocus compared to those of an ideal thin lens. Specifically, aberrated and defocused PS...

Confocal theta fluorescence microscopy using two-photon absorption and annular apertures. In a confocal theta fluorescence microscope, a second objective lens placed orthogonally to the illumination objective lens is used for detection. The addition of annular apertures to such an arrangement leads to a reduction of the volume at half maximum of the point spread function. We show that when the ...
